I can't think of a better way than to teach our country's history through reading novels! These novels surrounding the Japanese Internment Camps provide different perspectives, many through the eyes of children that are the very same age as my 5th-grade students! Collaboration and discussion from the chapters of these novels will be enlightening and help my students gain knowledge on a piece of our history that many of them have no idea about. Providing flexible seating options as well will give the students a more comfortable and relaxed arrangement to soak up every last word in these books!
