The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, in math. Using Zearn (online version of Eureka) in math, students grab their whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. It also allows me to see what common errors are being made so I can prevent problems before testing. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last. When the markers run out and I don't have any to replace them and you can see the disappointment on the student's face. They can use pencil and paper but the time it takes to transition to that is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction form either myself or other students.
Once we have completed guided practice, the students complete independent work on their chrome books to reinforce the guided practice. Part of this process involves listening to video. In order not to disturb other students it is essential for them to use earbuds or headphones. If they do not have them they have to turn the volume low enough to not disturb other students yet high enough for them to hear it themselves. This is difficult for the students to achieve. Students tend to also use the earbuds very quickly and they do not seem to last.
By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not worry whether they will have materials.
