My project and goal are to move towards a deskless classroom by having chairs instead of desks, and covers for some of the chairs to carry supplies in. Deskless classrooms allow students to move around and be more engaged in classroom activities. Going deskless has become more and more common in many foreign language classrooms throughout the United States because of its usefulness in engaging students in the classroom. I have seen and participated in deskless classrooms, and have been witness to the many benefits that they offer. One of the many benefits is that students are able to move around, play games, and become more engaged in the language. The desks in my room have held not only my students back but my teaching as well. They create a barrier that makes it hard to move around the classroom and engage in the activities we have every day. The chairs and the covers that I asked for would allow students to move around the room, be more open, and allow us to do more engaging activities as a class. It has been hard to move towards this project because of cost, and using DonorsChoose.org would help tremendously. I know that this would make a big impact in my classrooms for the future and the way my students engage in learning a foreign language. Thank you so much for this opportunity!
