Research has shown that the number #1 way to improve student success is to increase READING!!! Pleasure reading improves self-esteem, concentration, critical and analytical thinking skills, memory skills, and expands vocabulary. Students who read independently score higher on achievement tests in all areas and have greater content knowledge (School Library Media Research, 2000). To increase the reading culture in my classroom, I need to increase my classroom library. I want to offer a wider, more interesting selection than students can find in our school library and to have them available at their fingertips so students can self-select. Please help me by donating books!
