Throughout my teacher candidacy, I have seen how often whiteboards are used for a variety of activities. Personal whiteboards provide students with the means to actively participate in call and response games, review practice, and more as they strengthen their writing abilities. While group work is an integral part of the learning process, there are times when students feel inclined to simply go along with what their peers think is correct rather than showing what they know. Personal whiteboards allow me to monitor what each child knows, or doesn't know, so that I can adjust instruction as necessary. What becomes a problem with whiteboards is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use; this can become quite wasteful and expensive. I am focused on making my 4th grade reading classroom as sustainable as possible, and the class set of Orsen LCD Writing Tablets will help me to do so. By donating to this project, you will not only contribute to my efforts in making my classroom sustainable, you will also be giving my students a way to show what they know, which will increase their academic achievement.
