These journals will be a welcoming tool for students as they enter back into school full time for the first time in over 18 months. Students will be given their own writing journal, pen, and variety of stickers to allow them to create a writing journal that they can keep after the school year. Each student will be given the opportunity to decorate the journal with stickers, markers, and images. Students love being able to express themselves and design something that is their own unique representation. Many students come to school with no supplies, but with these journals they would have their own ownership over their writing and supplies to do so. Given the circumstances of the school year, we may have to return to distance learning. The students will be allowed to take the journals home with them to continue writing between school and home. After the year is done, students will still have their personalized journal to continue writing in. Student ownership is so important and writing is a wonderful way to express themselves. This opportunity will be amazing for students to have a writing space to call their own!
