Many of our 6th graders have not had a lot of hands-on experience with science equipment. The electronic scale will allow them the opportunity to accurately measure the mass of chemicals for a reaction to learn the "law of conservation of mass" as well as measure mass to determine the density of various substances. Sixth grade is a time when science students begin to apply skills in measuring and the concepts of accuracy and units of measure. This equipment would provide them with the confidence of correct values and numbers.
