In order to foster a love for reading, students need to be able to choose the books that they want to read. There are plenty of times when texts are selected for a child; however, my classroom library will be a place where students take the reins of their learning experience. Students will not only have access to a wide variety of books, but they will also have opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations about what they are reading. I strive to create a print-rich and collaborative classroom. The books and Qball will allow me to do just that. The Qball will be used during class to facilitate meaningful conversations. It will greatly increase student engagement while also encouraging all students to actively participate. Every child deserves to have his or her voice heard. As a teacher that is moving from 2nd grade to 4th grade, I have a slim collection of chapter books. The chapter books will be used both in and out of the classroom. Students will have the liberty to take the books to their homes to continue their literary adventures outside of the classroom's walls.
