Flexible seating is all about giving children the choice to choose how they work best. Some like to rock, roll, stand, or lay on their tummies with a clip board. By giving them the choices to choose their seat they feel a sense of empowerment and the feeling of being able to somewhat control their environment. It also allows them to move when the they need and by doing this it makes them more alert because it increases oxygen to the brain which improves their health and well being. Flexible seating allows the children in my classroom to find and use their best way to be productive and focused throughout the class. If the students are comfortable, they are willing to learn and will in return enjoy it more.
