Many books from the past are outdated and not engaging to my students. From my experience, my students like books thats are current and relatable. Providing my students with new diverse and inclusive literature will give students the opportunity to see themselves in stories. These high interest level books will not only bring about meaningful classroom discussions and lessons, but also engage my students and encourage them to be readers. Many of my students are behind academically, so this set of books includes books ranging from grades 1-4 to meet the needs of all of them and ensure that they can gain confidence in being successful readers. This project will not only help this set of students, but my students in many years to come.
