Without these books and materials my hope of creating a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment will be difficult. I have such high hopes for my students, English is their second language, learning to read is already a very difficult task. With these books and supplies, they will go from being a monolingual to fluent English readers. Reading is the biggest skill that students take away from 1st grade, the stakes are already so high to keep these kids in school as their family lives are extremely inconsistent and always changing. With these supplies I will change students lives, create future leaders and life long learners.
