The books that I am requesting for my students will help my students read more. They will allow them to connect with the characters and the stories being told because they will be able to relate to them. My students will care about reading, will find the joy of reading, and will want to read more if they are holding books in their hands that are as diverse as they are. Face it. Would you want to read a book that you are unable to connect with? Would it make you want to continue reading? Probably not. These books will help diversify our classroom library and allow students to read stories that they will want to read over and over again.
