I have requested a freestanding heavy bag, bean bag chair, yoga mat, and speakers. These resources will help tour Counseling team cultivate a Zen Zone for our students to find a safe space at school. Allowing students to process their emotions in a space designed just for them will allow them to regulate their feelings and get back to the classroom so they can learn. Our plan is to use these supplies to create two different "Zen Zones" in the school: one 'calm down room' in our counseling department full of a variety of tools to help students deescalate. The other is to make our outdoor courtyard a fun Mindfulness area where kids can learn some quick techniques or check in with their counselors on their way to their next class!
