Classroom rugs are necessary for building a learning environment with boundaries as well as a sense of community. Currently, my classroom does not have a rug. This makes it difficult for children to visualize our defined meeting space boundaries. My students need a space that will allow them the comfort of a carpet as well as the spaces to allow them their own individual place to sit and be comfortable during our lessons. A classroom rug will allow my students to feel included in discussions and activities without having to constantly sit at their desks. It also will provide divided space for students to complete centers/learning stations.
