"If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book." -JK Rowling My job is to give students that have difficulty reading the skills they need to be able to read and comprehend written material. Middle school students that still struggle with reading often come to me discouraged and weary. In my classroom we work every day on the skills they need to be able to read but Wednesday's Wild Reading days are a little different. I read aloud or find good audio books for my kids to enjoy. This gives them a chance to go on adventures across the Appalachian Trail, ride the fated journey of the Hindenburg, solve mysteries or play in the big football game. My students not only enjoy the stories but learn new vocabulary, identify the main idea, draw conclusions, and summarize with books that are on their interest level. I am looking for more stories that will draw in my students and allow them to be apart of the written text that can expand their knowledge, experiences and outlook on the world.
