Gardening is a way to teach so many different skills to our students. We teach the life cycle of plants and how to care care of plants. We are able to use math concepts like measurement, counting, and comparing while planting and growing different kinds of fruits and vegetables. We also are able to teach the economic importance of growing our own food and talk a lot about how food gets from farm to table. Our Pre-K students learn best through hands on activities! These raised beds, seeds, and soil will give the students at our school an opportunity to experience growing their own food that we can later take into our classroom to eat. Each classroom will have their own raised bed to grow different things, and the students will get to plant, water, and care for their plants at school each day. I would love to have the chance to take what we learn in the classroom and let my students experience it for themselves.
