I would like to start a new behavior management plan by utilizing desk pets. Students can earn a desk pet after earning so many points for good things they do in the classroom. This includes being kind to others, helping classmates, making good choices, doing exceptional work, and being a role model to others. Learning can be fun! After students have earned a desk pet, they can continue earning points to "purchase" a blanket, food, and other trinkets for their desk pet. Students can read to this pet during silent reading time, reorganize its habitat when they have finished an assignment, keep a journal about their desk pet, and practice caring for another thing.
