Flexible seating allows students to own their learning environment and become more invested in focused time. We are currently constrained to tables and chairs. After a full, long day of sitting this way, students' engagement in lessons and independent work time is a noticeable challenge. They are tired and restless, lacking in focus. There is a magical hum in the classroom when students are allowed to choose the area that they know they will work best in. The items I have chosen for the classroom will allow students many options to help them to create a work area. They will also help with social distancing using more of the room space available for small work spots. I know that choice increasing engagement in a natural and healthy way. It allows students to take charge of their learning and opens their minds to the growth they need.
