I've been teaching Elementary for 2 years now, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the way you seat your kids makes a HUGE difference in their learning. I've tried several different methods of seating- from the floor to bulky chairs that were too big for both the younger kids as well as the room itself (they didn't stack!). Completely unrelated to seating, I also have issues with teaching drumming skills at a decibel level that won't cause hearing damage! My goal with this project is to get two birds with one stone. I already have a class set of 5-gallon buckets that were donated by Home Depot years before I arrived. They make excellent stand-in seats AND drums, but they have as many problems as benefits: they are uncomfortable to sit on, and they are LOUD. These padded lids are perfect for easing the pain in the bottom and the ears that the buckets cause. By donating to this cause, you will be helping me make better use of materials I already have. A win-win!
