Students will be able to fall more in love with learning and reading through many books that have representation of children and adults who look like them instead of only primarily white characters. Students who can't connect with what they are reading are less likely to take ownership of this critical skill as they grow in their confidence while reading. Fourth grade is a critical year as it prepares them for middle school and beyond. I want to equip my students to take success with them wherever they go, and love reading instead of simply tolerating it.
