In conjunction with Learning for Justice/Teaching Tolerance, students will read Tiffany Jewell's This Book is Anti-Racist. They will be challenging themselves to consider privilege, race, etc while working to form/understand their individual identities. In conjunction with Tiffany Jewell's book, students will read and write poetry, take part in activities that engender empathy (such as a Privilege Walk), and make connections to their own lives as well as to carefully curated literature. Issues of race, nationality, privilege, gender, and class will enhance students' critical thinking skills while offering serious reflection and self-examination.
