My 40 students are in the "Achiever's Academy" which is comprised of the lowest achieving 9th and 10th grade students at our school. These students are at risk for failing high school due to low achievement on the state’s FCAT test. They have scored at level one or two in both reading and writing on the FCAT; three is considered proficient. Approximately 87% of this group receive reduced or free lunch as compared to the total school population which is at 59%. This group is the most disadvantaged group at our school. My students will hold a reception and display their writing and glass works in the media center. Over 400 students will read their writing and view their fused glass artwork. Faculty and staff, parents as well as district administrators will be invited to attend the reception.
