Learning through play has shown to be a very successful way for children to learn and in our class, and we have been using a kindness curriculum as we are learning to play within the boundaries given. We are requesting sensory items because we currently do not have any and we know that sensory play is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child. In-play experiences, combining the sense of touch with the senses of vision, hearing, taste, and smell helps build cognitive skills and young children learn through using multiple senses simultaneously. Everything requested is to help build those skills and provide them with the foundation for the child's growth, development, and learning within the world around them. Studies have shown that children struggling with behavior and academic learning tend to have inadequately developed sensory and motor systems. For this reason, I really want to get these supplies in the hands of my students as soon as possible.
