My students don’t have access to quality non fiction reading. Magazines are enticing, yet out of reach for many. This would help them learn non-fiction reading, and not only would they hone their literacy skills, they would learn the love of periodical reading. Magazines are a great hook for kids, and I always suggest various titles during conferences. I receive wonderful feedback from families that are able to subscribe. Reading any quality materials, such as Scholastic Magazines, allows students to unknowingly learn life skills, and non-fiction reading skills are important for well rounded adults.
