The teachers at my school have received high quality professional development in the area of balanced literacy over the past two years. We have also been fortunate to have filled up an entire room with book sets we are able to use in small groups. Students who are struggling to read often stay on the same level for an extended period of time, but we currently do not have enough books to support their needs. We have a disproportionate amount of books in levels A, 1, 2, and 3 as we do to the rest of the sets in higher levels. This means that there are enough books for our on-level and above-level readers, but not enough to give our struggling readers enough material for reading groups. With your help, our school can purchase more books for our struggling readers. Thank you for helping!
