The aim of my class is to attract underrepresented groups to computer programming through automation and physical computing. Middle School students will learn to code in C using Arduino Uno boards. The students in my class will complete a number of physical computing projects in order to learn coding with the sensors that are being requested through this project. These sensors and LCD panels will provide students with the materials needed all year to build an automated living wall, interactive science museum exhibit as well as create a project of their choice. Students will work in groups to learn about programming and physical computing/automation throughout the school year as they work on these hands-on projects. They will learn how computer science and programming can help solve problems and create solutions to every day problems.
