This past year, it has been so incredible to see how creative my students have been when it comes to connecting with each other. Social distancing has made it difficult, but we have managed to create a wonderful classroom community. Books have been a huge part of this! I can't tell you how many times we've read a book together and it has sparked amazing conversations between my students. We learned so much about each other from read alouds! This is why I'm so passionate about expanding my library. Books allow students to access the world from so many different viewpoints and give them a chance to look deeper into topics that spark their interest. Having a diverse library allows students to make connections to their own life while also giving them the freedom to explore different cultures and make new discoveries. They give them the opportunity to be free thinkers and create their own world perspective.
