Even struggling readers love good stories. The trick is to put the right materials in front of them. The kinds of books I've put on my list are the kind that fly off shelves because kids want to read about someone who's like them. Or, sometimes, they want to read about someone who seems at first glance to be completely unlike them...only to find out that they can relate in every detail to something that character is feeling. Put the right books out there and every kid is a reader.
