The books, games, and manipulatives in this project will provide students a variety of ways to access math concepts in meaningful ways. By reading high-quality picture books with math themes, students will find evidence of math in the real world. Playing math games not only builds math skills but also provides opportunities for student collaboration and promotes social/emotional development. Students will use dice in 7-day pill dispensers to practice place value with large numbers as well as with decimals. They will also use the dice separately to play dozens of games that build problem-solving, strategic thinking, and classroom community. I want my students to experience the magic of math by making connections, seeing patterns, and having fun! Here's to my young scholars becoming awesome mathematical thinkers!
