We all process and live out our emotions in different ways. When in moments of high emotions, some like to squeeze things, be squeezed, push something, kick something, cry it out, etc. These items will help my students have an appropriate and safe way to fulfill their sensory and regulation needs. For example, the punching bag will give them a safe option of something to squeeze or pushup against it. In my classroom we also learn about recognizing emotions in others and ourselves. The mirrors will provide a great way to practice our ability to check in on our own feelings and to practice showing empathy for others' feelings. The pulse oximeters will help to teach students that our bodies react to our feelings as well.
