My classroom doesn’t have a set of TI84s and most of my students cannot afford their own. Therefore my algebra 2 students are at a disadvantage when they go to take the timed ACT because they either don’t have a TI84, or they have borrowed one that they don’t know how to use. The TI84 is only helpful to students if they have been taught it’s various functions and the students have had ample opportunity to practice using them. Having a set of TI84s on hand for students could greatly increase their chances of making the ACT scores necessary to get into good schools and earn good scholarships.
