Our students spend a significant time performing labs in science class. Hands-on learning is valuable to us and important to bridge the gap between college and high school.
Accurate results are a necessary part of the science field and in order to teach kids that, we must have the proper equipment to give them a chance to achieve them. With an emphasis on STEAM learning and NGSS standards, much of science education should take place in the lab. Inquiry and self-discovered truths are valuable to creating lifelong learners and creating interest in certain topics.
Students will use a new scale to ensure that they are using the proper amount of various chemicals and to properly weigh their results. Students are asked on a frequent basis to calculate percent error and in order to ensure accurate results, they are sometimes asked to come within a certain range of a given percent error. Digital scales are accurate and efficient but also expensive.
A water distiller is a very necessary tool in the chemistry lab. Distilled water is necessary for almost every lab. Being able to have distilled water at all times will not only help results but provide convenience so multiple trips to the grocery store can be avoided. This piece of equipment will also pay for itself in a short period of time.
