Students get to choose where and how they can do their best learning with flexible seating. During our independent centers, the students find a spot in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my class can work at a high table with stools, on rugs on the floor, or around the room with clipboards. I am noticing more students that prefer to stand or can't function well in a traditional chair. We need the ability to switch up our seating situation. Students always are more motivated and engaged when they get to have a choice. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
When my students get to choose where to sit they are more engaged, motivated, and excited to learn. The seating choices that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will allow students to learn and move at the same time. Many of my kids will benefit from this because they all have a few wiggles they need to get out. The wobble cushion will provide another flexible seating choice. These are great for students who have sensory needs. Lastly, the balance ball seats provide another seating choice. These seats allow for more movement and core work.
I have seen how my kids need to move and have extra wiggles. I hope that the flexible seating options will allow my students to move and stay engaged!
