The Scholastic magazines will give my students access to current and engaging nonfiction articles about the world around them. With many subjects to spark their interest, such as, How to Build a Snowman or about ways in which other children their age are working to save the environment, or they may read an article about protecting animal habitats or Science articles about volcanoes or the solar system. I plan to use the magazines in my lesson plans for Social Studies and Reading. We will read and discuss the weekly magazine every Friday. Students will improve their reading and discourse ability by reading and discussing articles about new discoveries, ideas, and cultures around the world. I believe these magazines will help to broaden the horizons of my students and help them to become better readers.
