This will be my second year teaching, and my first year teaching First Grade. I am so excited for my future as an educator! I would LOVE to implement flexible seating in our First Grade classroom. I have seen first-hand how expecting children to sit at a desk all day is detrimental to their focus and learning. Children--young students especially-- learn best when they are in an engaging, positive, and comfortable environment. These materials will make a huge difference in my students' learning by allowing them to choose their seating and take control of their own learning. I would love for my students to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom! I would like to add four wobble stools for the students who are unable to sit still to focus. I would love to add some floor seating options, like cushions that can be sanitized, and whiteboard/clipboards for my students that want to read or work comfortably on the floor, and away from others. Many students like to work independently, and this would help them to do that. A few fun building toys would be awesome to engage my students first thing in the morning, and get their brains turned on and ready to learn. The spot markers for the carpet would be incredibly helpful in our classroom management for lining up and other daily procedures. I know that adding these flexible seating options and learning tools to my class will greatly benefit my young students!
