Students in our class will have a chance to choose young adult novels that appeal to their interests and are relevant! In addition, we will spend 20 minutes of each class modeling and practicing independent reading habits. Evidence suggests that sustained reading improves reading fluency and comprehension of complex ideas. We also know that the opportunity to choose a text makes reading more enjoyable for students! We want to give our students access to diverse young adult novels that will encourage them to think critically about the world and build connections with their classmates. So help us put interesting and exciting books in our students' hands!

About my class
