The pretend fireplace would provide the classroom environment with a homelike feeling. Providing a homelike environment in the classroom would allow for an easier home to school transition for the students. Also, the fireplace would serve as the central meeting point in the classroom, a place where children could gather in authentic learning, collaboration, and play. The fireplace would provide a place to store books, display pictures of students, their families, and objects that reinforce children's natural connection to home. Most importantly the pretend fireplace would allow for a welcoming and nurturing environment for all, making our classroom a home sweet classroom.
