My students will be returning to in-person learning in a few weeks. After a year of virtual learning, I am eager to get real books in the hands of my students. My students have lost their passion and spark for speaking in Spanish. My students love to study history and learn about past events, in order to make connections to the future. I want to use a familiar event such as the sinking of the Titanic to get my students excited to learn, but even more so, excited to interact with a Spanish text. My hope is that students will engage in authentic dialogue as we delve into the book together. As we read the book collaboratively, my students will create timelines, think critically about the characters' actions and words, make inferences, etc. I truly want to provide an authentic learning experience for all my students and get them excited about Spanish reading once again!
