Students will learn that matter is a substance that has weight and takes up space and can be identified through its properties like magnetism, density and solubility. The learning kits that I have chosen will give students the opportunity to measure and identify these properties. The reading sets that I have chosen will bring these concepts to life through nonfiction text. Hands-on activities are especially important in the classroom because it allows students to engage in kinesthetic learning. This allows students to experiment with trial and error, learn from their mistakes, and understand the potential gaps between theory and practice. It also provides educators with a unique opportunity to enrich the minds of their students in new and engaging ways allowing scientific conversations to naturally take place.
