We have been making due with old PA equipment in the roll of bass amplifier for jazz band, pep band, marching band and even concert band on occasion. Also, students have been bringing in their own keyboards to play with our pep band when needed. PA equipment is the wrong too for this job. It does not sound right and is potentially harmful to the speakers. The gear I have put here is the right tool for the job of supporting all of our band students with good sounding fundamental bass tones for them to play with.
