As students grow anxious, angry, or frustrated during learning activities, the student can calm himself down, and focus. Trauma Sensitive Classrooms are classrooms that teachers have built relationships with their students. They teach students how to help regulate themselves. The students use fidget toys and sensory items while in their seat to help them support, cope, and focus. As students watch the liquid motion, it allows their brain to focus on something besides what is agitating them. Squeezing balls like squishy foam balls allow them to regulate their breathing. We have some students who really struggle learning to read and write. These items will be a great support to those classrooms who weren't supported last year due to on-line learning.
