It is important to our school to provide a variety of diverse and inclusive picture books for students to read and interact with the text/pictures. Students need updated picture books, in a variety of levels, that are high interest as we learn about themes, morals, and authors craft. This year we are eager to bring books into the students' hands where families may not have real books at home during the past 2 years. Help me give students a collection of inclusive, diverse, and racial justice picture books in upper grade. Do you remember the last picture book you read? Was it for pleasure or information? What lesson did the author or illustrator teach in this book? Literature circles and quality pieces of text are so important to let students read, see, and touch. Over the last decade, many new books have been updated and revised to meet the needs of our ever-growing population. Please help us fill our shelves in our library!
