It has always been my teaching philosophy that students need the opportunity to move throughout the classroom with structure. Students should explore the types of learners they are. We need the freedom to move throughout the room while we learn with hands on materials and curiosity. First graders are not meant to sit behind a desk all day! The clipboards and floor cushions will allow my students to work anywhere they need to for small groups or whole group instruction. The stools will give other students an option to get out of a typical classroom chair and can be used for sharing during our daily morning meetings. The wiggle pads will allow for my students who need a little more sensory input to receive what they need without having to leave their areas. These opportunities are so valuable in the classroom setting.
