Vision boards are used to help people focus on their future by creating goals for themselves. Students who experience adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) need resilience to combat the trauma that they have experienced. ACEs are traumatic events like abuse, neglect, family member with mental illness, family member who is incarcerated, drugs in the house, etc. that are uncontrollable to the child. Vision boards help students to visualize their goals and gives them the ability to look at the big picture. These are factors that help to promote resilience and gives students the ability to believe that they can influence how their future turns out.
