As a teacher, I am on my feet all day walking from one area to another. As I move, students are expected to stay in their area and complete work. If you walk into my classroom on any given day, you will see students standing and working if they are tired of sitting in their hard, plastic chairs. You may also see students who have turned their chairs upside down or on their side to provide some change and ability for fidgeting. Students in this classroom are allowed to be seated in any way that makes learning most accessible to them. My goal with this project is to provide some more comfortable seating options for students as they learn. I have a classroom full of students who love to move and fidget, as most kids do. I would not be able to sit in a hard chair for hours at a time and complete work, so I do not expect that from students. Providing students with a wobble stool or yoga ball will allow them to move their bodies safely as they learn.
