In Lester Laminack's and Katie Kelly's book, "Reading to Make a Difference", they state "when a reader stands in his own worldview, unable to see or conceive of any other prospective, a book can be a bridge." As an early childhood educator and reading specialist, I understand the love and importance of using a book to teach students about themselves, peers, different points of views, and tough topics. Adding these materials to our classroom library will encourage my students to see themselves and their families in books which prompts students to discover their own self identity. These books will also encourage students to see other people's perspectives, struggles, and victories which will help build our students into the compassionate leaders of tomorrow!
