Having a large assortment of books to look at and listen to is very important in a prek classroom. This is my first year in this classroom and unfortunately, the teacher before me left only a few appropriate books. Many of the books are either board books, which are too young for my students. Or easy readers, which are too advanced for my students. I am trying to begin building a library for my students to choose books from. We are a Title I school which means a large part of our school community is low income. Many of my students have said no one reads to them at home, so our classroom is their exposure to literacy.
