As we're near reaching the 1 year anniversary of distance learning, students yearn for more and more interaction with their peers and teachers. This project would help students process their emotional needs and improve their emotional intelligence more by providing them the time and space to reflect their feelings during the school week. Having personal journals and writing materials serve as an incentive for them to come to class more excited and understanding they have a teacher and structural supports for their needs. While it is important to keep up their academic growth, students this age are experiencing physical and mental changes that require the attention and care that often goes unspoken. My students would greatly benefit from this project in both developing characters & writing ability!
