I hope to get my students to think outside the box by learning high order thinking skills. I want my students to be able to take their chess sets home and teach their parents and siblings how to play the game. I want my students to feel like they can teach others too. I want my students to show their parents that they can be successful at something. I think that learning to play a game like chess can foster critical thinking and creativity. It also is great for improving their math and reading skills.
