The new reading materials will inspire literacy and celebrate multicultural backgrounds. The students have shown growth when reading independently and this project will allow the students to be exposed to new texts as well as new creative materials to demonstrate mastery of learning targets. The students need continued support in the area of reading and writing due to learning disabilities. I wish for the classroom to be a literacy rich environment that consistently displays reading in a positive and inspiring way. The books are all quality multicultural texts that display leadership, integrity, and pride through the main characters and I know once my students explore books such as these it will inspire extended thinking through discussions.
